Research

The overarching research goal of the CAOS laboratory is to design fast, secure, and cost-effective computer systems that contribute to making the world a better place. We develop a variety of optimization techniques across the system hierarchy, from application algorithms to hardware microarchitectures, to enhance the performance, energy efficiency, reliability, security/privacy, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of computer systems. Our current research is focusing on memory and storage systems that bottleneck the performance and energy efficiency of modern computer system where unprecedented amounts of data are stored and processed.
